Expected Impact |
S2R KPI |
Project contribution |
Balanced, controlled, cost and risk-effective interventions in between railway services and maintenance. |
KPI #1 - reduction in the costs of developing, maintaining, operating and renewing infrastructure |
· DAYDREAMS, through the adoption of prescriptive analytics, will improve maintenance planning and a more proactive asset management decision-making across the organisation. This can lead to a reduction of infrastructure maintenance costs, as shown by similar experiences in other industrial fields, by 10%. |
Increase operational reliability by 30% through less service disruption, improving users’ railway attractiveness |
KPI #2 - increase the capacity of railway segments to meet the increased demand for passenger and freight railway services
KPI #3 - decrease in unreliability and late arrivals |
· The work done in DAYDREAMS will pave the way towards future Intelligent Asset Maintenance, aiming at supporting the deployment, usage and maintenance of railway assets in a more effective and cost-efficient way. Data-driven methodologies will enable the analysis of railway asset data at system-level, providing a holistic approach to asset management and decision support including diagnostics and prognostics. It is expected a 5% increase in the capacity of railway segments corresponding to a 5-10% increase in punctuality. |
Optimise maintenance execution by 30% through the multi-objective decisions’ optimisation tools. |
KPI #1 - reduction in the costs of developing, maintaining, operating and renewing infrastructure
KPI #4 - Reduce noise emissions and vibrations |
· The integration of the prescriptive analytics with AI-based multi-objective optimisation presented to stakeholders through context-driven HMI will contribute to optimise, in the long-term, the maintenance execution by 10%.
· Clearly, optimising maintenance execution will allow to increase the quality of the infrastructure (tracks and switches in particular) thus reducing noise emission and vibrations of trains thus increasing travellers’ comfort. |
LCC reduction
by 20%. |
KPI #1 - reduction in the costs of developing, maintaining, operating and renewing infrastructure |
· The work done in DAYDREAMS will allow moving from reactive and preventive maintenance to prescriptive maintenance. The adoption of descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive analytics will generate significant benefits, including decrease of human resources required and better management of LCC. In the long term it could bring a 5% reduction in the costs of developing, maintaining, operating, and renewing infrastructure and rolling stock.
